Roasted Pork Belly 脆皮燒肉

As a child, I get very excited when my mom doesn’t feel like cooking because that means she is going to get something off the shelf for dinner. In Canto-region, including Hong Kong and Macau, one stop barbecue shop (燒味鋪) sold hundreds of Roasted Duck, Chicken, Char Siu and Pork Belly. Some well-established shops only offered few variety of barbecue goodies, usually it means that they are the staple of that neighborhood.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 kg pork belly
  • 3 tbsp chinese five spices
  • 3 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Salt to cover the skin for curing

    I made this and had it yesterday – great recipe and it tasted fantastic. The only thing I would say is that it would be really helpful if the instructions could be written down as it was difficult to find the correct place in the video for timings, temperatures etc. ( I know it’s a bit harsh to complain given that Sandy is kindly sharing her recipes for free though!)
